WEEK TWO: SANCTUARY LETTER

“When Betrayal Breaks the Silence”

Obadiah 1: 8-14

Beloved,

There are also moments in life when the wound doesn’t come from an enemy outside the gate – it comes from the one who shared your table. Obadiah speaks
into that ache with a clarity that refuses to soften the truth. Edom didn’t just
attack Israel: they stood by, they watched, they benefited, and they handed over
survivors. God calls it what it is: violence against your brother.

Some betrayals are loud.
Some are quiet.
Some are done with hands.
Some are done with silence.
But all of them leave a mark.

And yet -hear this gently – God saw every moment you were left uncovered. He saw
who stood by when you needed someone to stand up. He saw who watched when they should have intervened. He saw who took advantage of your vulnerability. He
saw who handed you over to pain that was never meant for you.

Obadiah reminds us that God does not ignore betrayal. He does not minimize it. He
He does not spiritualize it away. He confronts it.

But here is the sanctuary truth: Betrayal does not get the final word – God does.

You are not defined by who failed you.
You are not shaped by who abandoned you.
You are not reduced by who misused your moment of weakness.

God is the One who restores dignity where others stripped it.
He is the One who lifts your head where others looked away. He is the One who
heals the wound others deepened.

So today, breathe.
Let the God who sees all things speak peace into the places that still feel tender.
Let Him remind you that justice is His, healing is His, and your story is still held in
his hands.

You are not alone.
You are not forgotten.
You are not unprotected.

You are covered – fully, fiercely, and faithfully.

Rest here.

– Debra
